Introduction,
by Roy Thomas
... Born in Peurto Rico (where he still resides) of Spanish parents, he's been writing tales of Arquel of Argos for several years now. The first of these to see the light of day (and cold print) was Turual, which appeared in the 1970
hardbound anthology Warlocks and Warriors (later a paperback from Lancer Books), edited by L. Sprague de Camp. A second story of Arquel, The Lion's Bridge, was rcently included in a limited-edition volume titled The Conan Grimoire
... "The Crimson Bell," however, is a very special Arquel story, in that it is the earlliest story (chronologically speaking) of the entire series. For one reason or another, it's never been published before.
