Are you ready for this?

The issue of Savage Tales you hold in your hands is quite possibly the last - again.

... the publishing of comic-books (and of comic related magazines such as Savage Tales and the rest of our giant-sized 75-cent line) is a risky business, and one which must be run with a fair amount of discreet caution.

... Marvel's best course of action was simply to put out this third issue of Savage Tales about four months after the previous one - then wait to see what sort of reception (fannish and financial) the two of them recieved.

... After the distribution and other problems which plagued Savage Tales #1, nearly three years ago, it's a wonder we were ever brave enough to come out with a second and thrid issue at all!

... From the beginning I wanted it to be a Conan, and Howard-oriented magazine, with no more filler material than was absolutely necessary.

... Every article - each fiction piece - even all reprints, if possible - were to fit as well as possible into my basic framework, budget allowing.

... Savage Tales #2 and #3 reflect Ye Editor's own personal view of what a magazine starring Conan the Cimmerian ought to be - at least, in lieu of a bottomless purse out of which to pay for additional script and art.
