... Still another thing I'd wanted to do for a long time was reprint the King Kull story on which a talented then-newcomer named Berni Wrightson and I collaborated - a story called "The Skull of Silence."

... At the time it was printed, Berni was kind enough to say that he thought my script was "one of the most excellent things I have ever seen done"; I felt rather similarly about his artwork - which, unfortunately for us both, suffered unduly because of a bad reproduction job when it first appeared in Creatures on the Loose #10.

... And, since a publishing decision at the last minute had prevented us from using the beautiful cover which Berni had drawn, re-publishing our sole Kull effort would give me an excuse to see that exquisitely-rendered page in print at last, as well.
